When you start following Jesus Christ, one of the very few things that will be impossible for you is to remain unnoticed. To live for God is one of the most remarkable things that this world will ever see.

Consider the example of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, whom Daniel 1:20 says became "ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom" simply because they obeyed and trusted in the Lord their God. There is no reason for you to believe that God doesn't want you to be the Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, or Azariah of your campus, workplace, neighbourhood or any community you are part of.

Matthew 5:14-15 says, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house."

Being a Christian means standing out, and many times that also means being an influence to others. As we obey the great command Jesus gave us to love God and to love others, people will be blessed by your life and will be naturally drawn to you.

Being a Christian without being a leader is impossible, and it's likely that as you continue to walk in Christ, the more influence He will put in your life. That's not to say that we should grow proud and arrogant, but that we should walk more in humility knowing that it's not our ability or skills that make us influential but purely the presence of Christ in our lives.

Just as Paul instructed young Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:12 saying, "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity," the call for us is no different. As the Holy Spirit comes to us as followers of Christ, we receive power to become witnesses, testimonies and examples (Acts 1:8) so that the whole world will know who God is and be blessed.

Becoming a Christian automatically means you are a leader. The question we must ask ourselves is what kind of leader do we become? Do we become good leaders or bad ones? Matthew 7:17 reminds us, "So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit." To be in Christ and to abide in Him means that we become His branches bearing only good fruit and good works.

Leadership is a given almost anytime, but when we become leaders that reflect Christ above anything else, that's when we become effective and anointed leaders.
