Mario Kart 8 free DLC update for Wii U to bring 200cc racing mode, new vehicles, racing suits and more

Mario Wiki

There are some folks who are surely familiar with Super Mario. And while the iconic Nintendo character is best known for his Mario World adventures, he does have other games that folks can play. Among them include Mario Kart, something some may have been able to play on Wii or from old family computer consoles.

For those who have played Mario Kart, chances are that like any other racing game fanatic, you have that urge for more speed. Before, gamers could enjoy only up to 150CC on Mario Kart 8. Thanks to an upcoming DLC however, that speed is expected to be jacked up to a whopping 200CC mode.

This was announced during Nintendo Direct, jacking up the speed for Mario Kart gamers for better game play. But that doesn't seem to be the best part of it all. The DLC is free!

With that said, the Mario Kart 8 DLC which includes that new 200CC game mode is reportedly set to be available this April 23. That means you only have to make do with the current 150CC mode for a couple of weeks and then download the latest patch to experience new challenges and a different kind of game play with lots of speed (to spare?).

Aside from the speed bump, other rumored features include two brand new vehicles. These are the City Tripper and the Streetle (a car shaped like the famous Volkswagen Beetle).

There will also be two new playable versions of the male and female Animal crossing villages, Isabelle and Dry Bowser. Eight new courses come with the DLC as well in the Crossing and Bell Cups.

Nine new racing suits will also come with the upcoming DLC. They can be unlocked once the ample Amiibo has been placed.

The free DLC content should be something worth downloading, especially the ones who love playing Mario Kart 8. Don't forget to use the brakes! Check out the video below.
