For former wrestler-turned-UFC fighter CM Punk, he is ready to fight and make his debut in the Octagon.

Well and good. However, that is just one half of the story. Punk can only be considered 100% ready if his coaches concur with his claim.

So as it stands, these are all plans for now and unless both he and his trainers share the same belief, that supposed match is still in the air.

Punk last appearance was on January 26, 2014 during the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Royal Rumble. He never made an appearance since then.

And before the year ended, Punk broke his silence on the Colt Cobana's Art of Wrestling podcast, baring that he was suspended by the WWE for walking out of the company in January 2014. Once his suspension ended, no one from the WWE touched base with him; and on June, 2014, he was given his termination papers.

Punk stressed as well that the WWE had pressured him into competing despite multiple injuries, the last one being at the Royal Rumble. While the WWE has already refuted Punk's claims, the thing is that Punk has declared that he has no intention of returning to the WWE scene.

And such has led to his entry in the MMA scene, a move that some are questioning. Despite being a mixed-martial artist, there are some who feel that Punk's plan to follow the footsteps of previous wrestlers-turned-MMA fighters like Brock Lesnar may not pan out well.

There is the age factor to consider as well. Punk is 36 years old and many feel that he could be wasting his time. Punk reportedly doesn't have any plans of going for the championships but no one can really shut the door on that.

As far as his debut is concerned, it could be in December this year or early 2016. There is no barometer to determine if Punk will indeed be ready to enter the Octagon by then; but there is still ample time to see if the former WWE champion can show the world what he can do in the MMA scene.
