WWE rumors 2015: Will John Cena be out of action with serious nose injury?

Wikipedia

It looks like the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will have to find a suitable replacement for John Cena soon if reports that his broken nose is worse than earlier speculated turn out to be true.

To recall, Cena suffered last week a fractured nose during his last match with WWE Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins for the U.S. title, something that the WWE icon won despite the untimely injury.

According to the WWE.com, Cena did suffer a broken nose and that the reigning U.S. champion was sent immediately to the local hospital for ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialists to do proper evaluation on the said injury.

Per reports from the Wrestlezone, Cena underwent emergency surgery on his nose to correct breathing issues, although more surgeries that include possible nose reconstruction may be needed.

Depending on the final word from the WWE, there is a chance that Cena may not be fit enough for WWE SummerSlam where he is likely to face Rollins.

At the moment, Cena has been pulled out of several shows which include a live event in Australia and the Aug. 3 edition of WWE RAW.

However, if Cena is given the green light to compete, he will likely do so wearing a protective mask to provide added protection for his nose.

The mask should be similar to what people have seen in the NBA (think Russell Westbrook or Rip Hamilton) and the WWE (Cody Rhodes).

But all that would depend if Cena would be permitted to compete with the handicap. If a reconstruction procedure would indeed be required, such could be a setback for Cena and his fans.

If Cena ends up being sidelined, it will be interesting to see who the WWE finds to take his place against Seth Rollins.

Rollins finds himself sliding out of the limelight with the attention fully focused on the Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker card for WWE SummerSlam slated on Aug. 23.
