Cortana will have several new features and improvements with the release of new Windows 10 build updates. According to a TechCrunch report, those who own devices that run on Windows 10 can soon use Cortana without having to sign up for a Microsoft account.

The latest improvement in Microsoft's virtual secretary feature was announced alongside the release of the newest Windows 10 Insider Preview build 10547, which reads:

"You will be able to use Cortana without converting your local account to a connected MSA account. Due to a mix-up on our end – this functionality is not yet enabled this this build but coming with a new build in the coming weeks."

Cortana acts as the user's smart personal assistant, which can help them organize their files on their PC, keep track of their schedule, and monitor any incoming or outgoing parcels. It even cracks up a joke or two. But the Redmond-based tech giant is not building Cortana to be just a simple activity checker.

Taipei Times recently reported that Microsoft is developing a deal with Taiwanese partners to come up with "connected cars" that will accept voice commands.

According to the report, Microsoft Asia-Pacific Research and Development Group CEO Samuel Shen revealed that the tech firm has created a prototype of a connected car with the voice-recognition assistant offered by the Windows 10 operating system. This can help the driver do several functions while driving, such as making restaurant reservations and the like.

"We have not launched similar products due to the high cost, but we hope to have further discussions with Taiwanese partners to jointly explore future possibilities," Shen said to participants of the TechDays Taiwan developer conference in Taipei.
