The most recent news about "Winds of Winter," the precious novel being worked on by bestselling author George R. R. Martin, is that its release date is nowhere to be seen on the horizon. The 66-year-old writer does not make announcements of specific dates to wait for. It seems that Martin's way of giving clues to his ardent fans about the unveiling is quashing release date rumors that are majorly off the mark.

Martin debunked the speculations that the sixth volume of his much-loved series "A Song of Ice and Fire" will be making its way to shelves this year. In his blog post, he personally addressed the growing speculations.

"Sorry. Not true. Look, I've said it before and I will say again, I don't play games with news about the books. I know how many people are waiting, how long they have been waiting, how anxious they are. I am still working on WINDS. When it's done, I will announce it here," he wrote.

In the same way, he threw light on rumors that "12 Days of Westeros," a Christmas countdown he started on Twitter last year, would wind up to the big revelation of "Winds of Winter."

"There won't be any clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings, the announcement will be straightforward and to the point. I won't time it to coincide with Xmas or Valentine's Day or Lincoln's Birthday, the book will not rise from the dead with Jesus on Easter Sunday. When it is done, I will say that's it is done, on whatever day I happen to finish," he said.

Website The Outhousers believes that the book might not make it this year. Although the novelist is striving to stay ahead of HBO series "Game of Thrones," which now enters its fifth season, a publishing company for the novels confirmed in answer to a fan query through Twitter that "Winds of Winter" is not included in its 2015 print lineup.

Fans are so worked up for the upcoming book but it seems that they would have to twiddle their thumbs for a while as it looks like Martin is still putting it all together.

"Winds of Winter" is the follow up to "A Dance with Dragons," the latest book in "A Song of Ice and Fire." The first four books are "A Game of Thrones," which inspired the HBO hit series of the same name, "A Clash of Kings," "A Storm of Swords," and "A Feast for Crows."
