George R. R. Martin prefers to be free from a deadline or a schedule when he works his magic on his novels. The bestselling author has yet to bring out or even specify a release date for "Winds of Winter," the sixth and penultimate novel from the series "A Song of Fire and Ice." Ultimately, it is the precious book fans are dying to get a hold of. However, it looks like 2015 will not be the year they will see it.

"Scheduling, and then having to reschedule and postpone, just pisses people off," Martin said in answer to an inquiry about the publishing schedule of the most-awaited book. "I'd rather not schedule at all until the date is real and certain."

The author strongly asserts that when the book is done, it's done and he will make it a point to uncomplicatedly inform the world about it, "without clues to decipher, any codes or hidden meanings."

However, it is just too difficult for fans to wait blindly, especially for followers of "Game of Thrones," which is based on the books of "A Song of Fire and Ice." The series is set for its fifth season and by the time that one ends, the show will be out of material. Weeks ago, Martin himself revealed that the series will feature deaths of characters that are not in the books. This marks the HBO anthology's diversion from its source.

Going back to "Winds of Winter," Martin has been working on the volume for about four years now. There were hiccups along the way and his hectic schedule did not help at all. Nevertheless, fans might not have to wait for "Winds of Winter" as long as they did for "A Dance of Dragons," the latest in the franchise that took him six years to complete.

"Winds of Winter" is not likely to hit shelves until 2016. But by the time that it does, fans will turn their attention to the seventh and last installment of the book series. Titled "A Dream of Spring," the book is sure to double the clamor and excitement of fans about its release.
