'Wolverine 3' release date, plot news: To feature a different kind of Professor X

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine20th Century Fox

The third installment of "Wolverine 3" should be something to watch. Not only it is reportedly Hugh Jackman's last appearance as Wolverine, but it would be interesting to see him portray an aging X-Men original.

Also appearing is Patrick Stewart's Professor X who will portray a different kind of role. On what that is remains to be seen, although adding up the fact that Wolverine being a lot older and well, harder to control, we just might see a tougher Professor X to watch over the usually uncontrollable rage that Logan has been known to have.

Charles Xavier will not be around for a cameo appearance. He will be pretty much involved, although the script has yet to be seen by Stewart himself. So in a sense, it makes you wonder — how different is different when you think about Charles Xavier who is usually calm and subtle? Will he be more aggressive and offensive?

All that remains to be seen.

All of these are, apparently, hints on what to expect; and even Stewart seems to be pretty interested to see what the script holds.

But as far as Stewart playing the role of Professor X is concerned, the actor did express his desire to continue to portray the character in future Marvel films.

As for "Wolverine 3," could it seriously be the last? Is Jackman really calling it quits after years of portraying the popular X-Men character?

Well, according to a report from the Daily Mail, such seems to be the case. And one thing that fans should watch out for is that Logan/Wolverine will be the most violent we have seen of him to date.

It would probably depend on what Marvel has in store. It could be the last as far as the "Wolverine" franchise is concerned, but definitely not for "X-Men." A lot of this may probably take shape once "X-Men: Apocalypse" unfolds and we could be treated to a series of time travels once more, similar to that of "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

"Wolverine 3" is set to be shown in theaters on March 3, 2017.
