"Wonder Woman" — the next installment in the larger DC Extended Universe franchise — is getting fans excited as the superhero film is already set to air early next year. Despite the already huge hype that was created for the upcoming superhero movie, majority of fans still have no idea who exactly the intrepid heroine will be going up against in the latest film.

Now, the movie's distributor — Warner Bros. Pictures — has released a brand new teaser trailer for the movie, which apparently contains a clue as to identity of the main villain Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot) will be facing.

According to several reports, the trailer itself provided the clue in the form of a woman wearing a half-mask. The woman, who is clearly a villain in the movie, was also shown releasing a deadly gas, which further solidified claims that the female villain was none other than Doctor Poison.

The Doctor Poison persona is not a well-known Wonder Woman villain and had originally debuted back in 1942 through Sensation Comics #2. The story called "The Menace of Doctor Poison" introduced the villain as Princess Maru, a Nazi spy that utilized custom made bio-chemicals to kill her victims. The villain was later revived in future comics via her granddaughter who followed in her footsteps.

Given that the movie will be set in the "War to End All Wars," it is likely that the original Doctor Poison will be featured. The trailer, of course, does reveal that Wonder Woman will be going against the German army as a whole, more specifically against a German officer played by Danny Huston. It is possible that Doctor Poison will be shown as an ally of Germany, who uses her skills to further the German cause.

"Wonder Woman" is scheduled to be released worldwide on June 2, 2017 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
