A new expansion pack for "World of Warcraft" now has an announcement date.

According to video game developer and publisher Blizzard Entertainment, the newest expansion for "World of Warcraft" will be announced at Gamescom. Fortunately for "World of Warcraft" die-hards, they will not have to wait long for the big reveal, as Gamescom will already start next week. To be more specific, Blizzard is expected to make their announcement regarding the newest expansion on Aug. 6.

After the official reveal is made on Aug. 6, Blizzard is expected to talk more about what fans can expect from it a few days later on Aug. 9.

The still unnamed expansion pack would be the sixth one for "World of Warcraft."

The newest expansion comes on the heels of "Warlords of Draenor," the most recently released expansion that was launched on Nov. 13 last year.

Blizzard had originally planned to release expansions for "World of Warcraft" in yearly intervals, such as what they are doing now, but they haven't always held firm to their annual schedule.

According to Polygon, Blizzard, for the most part, has made players wait two years between releases of new expansion packs, although their latest announcement could mark a possible change in that regard.

In related news, many "World of Warcraft" fans are reportedly upset over the news of the latest expansion pack being released so soon after "Warlords of Draenor."

With "Warlords of Draenors" being perceived as an expansion pack that was very light in terms of actual content, many players are predicting the same thing for the upcoming pack.

Although some players may be looking at the early release of the new expansion as a money grab, Crave Online suggests that the quicker timeline may just be part of Blizzard's efforts to release the new content prior to the premiere of the "Warcraft" movie.

As of now, players will just have to wait and see what the latest expansion pack from Blizzard will bring into "World of Warcraft."
