"World of Warships," the latest game from Lesta Studio and Wargaming, finally has an official release date. The free-to-play naval action-themed massively multiplayer online game is slated to go live beginning Sept. 17 on PC. 

"World of Warships" will bring four distinct classes of warships that players can command. These warships are some of the most legendary sea vessels, including the popular Yamato battleship, as well as the Midway aircraft carrier. 

In a press release posted in Wargaming's website, Fred Menou, the company's Head of Global Publishing, says: "Based on our Open Beta success with 'World of Warships,' Wargaming is poised to launch our next big game. With two million participants and the average player spending three hours a day in-game we have an armada of sea captains ready to take the helm of the ultimate naval combat game." 

Two full Tech Trees that comes from the U.S. and Japan will also be immediately available when the game is released, while other sea vessels that comes from the U.K, Germany, and Russia such as the Warspite, Tirpitz, and Aurora will later be included in the game. All in all, more than 80 historical vessels will be added, and more nations will be included before the end of the year. 

Wargaming first announced that they were working on a naval-action MMO back in 2011, but it was initially dubbed as the "World of Battleships." The game was renamed as "World of Warships" in August 2012. The open beta testing began on July 2 this year as the developer's last step before the final launch. At that time, the game was said to be 85 percent complete.

The "World of Warships" joins other Wargaming titles "World of Tanks" and "World of Warplanes" to complete the studio's "World of War" trilogy.
