For the past two years, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has relied heavily on what fans think, thus leading to sudden changes in WWE pay-per-view (PPVs).

The most notable is, of course, WrestleMania, the WWE's biggest dance. At the rate things are going now, the WWE continues to use social media as gauge of what needs to be done.

The question right now is — are they using the proper approach?

Until two years ago, the WWE carried on the show as they had planned. There were fans but not as vocal as they are today, thanks to the advent of social media. This year, the WWE has so far relied on it still. In the process, though, such has compounded the woes of the WWE as far as booking is concerned.

There is no better star to single out than Roman Reigns. Since the 2015 Royal Rumble, he has been the victim of criticism, forcing the WWE to change scripts and not stick to what they had originally planned.

Has the WWE ever considered trying to stay the course and see if there will indeed be a backlash from WWE fans via Twitter or Facebook? The answer to that may never be known, although the WWE may want to try that sometime. If not WrestleMania, perhaps some PPVs like WWE Fastlane or even WWE TLC.

The point here is that while there are die-hard fans, the WWE should stop trying to appease everyone. It will never happen.

Furthermore, if Reigns draws the ire of fans, then it should be a challenge to him and not the WWE. John Cena has done it and so has Triple H. It is the ultimate test to see if Reigns can really step up to be the new face of the WWE as he places his fate on his hands and not on the WWE fans.

At WrestleMania, there will be Reigns haters and some calling for Dean Ambrose to be pitted instead. It is no different from the Daniel Bryan issue the past two years.

If Reigns fails to live it up, then make the change; but let it be on his own efforts and not because fans threaten the WWE that they will boycott the PPVs.
