Apple's WWDC 2015 event is upon us and there are a boatload of new features, products and other goodies that users can expect from the most valuable company in the world, Apple. Starting off, the tech firm is most likely going to give the show the boost it needs by showcasing its upcoming mobile operating system update, iOS 9.

According to Engadget, iOS 9 will feature a new layout concerning functionality when compared to iOS 8, but more importantly, the platform is going to focus on performance improvements rather than inserting more features inside it. Since Apple has cut off 16 GB storage models from its baseline models and replaced them with 32 GB ones, future iPhone users can expect a flurry of updates from iOS 9 to further smooth out their experience.

Moving on, Apple will also be unveiling its 'HomeKit' app for iOS 9, which will allow users to control their household appliances and other paraphernalia using their smartphones. HomeKit will be acting as a control center for various Internet of Things devices, which is a platform that is set to take the world by storm in the next couple of years.

As for its desktop and notebook lineup, Apple will also be showcasing a couple of products to keep the momentum going for products that do not belong to the smartphone and tablet category. Since Apple has already made price cuts to its 27 inch 5K Mac, consumers might just expect a new product to be showcased on June 8.

Apple will also be digging into the music business, and the company plans on doing this through its Apple Music service. While subscribers will have to pay a minimum of around $10 for the service, it will give them access to a whole array of music, which is similar to what Spotify brings to the table.

It is also possible that during WWDC, Apple gives a little sneak preview to the successor of its Apple Watch. While nothing has been confirmed related to this matter, consumers who have become diehard fans of the company's smartwatch should keep their eyes open for this.
