WWE Payback 2015 news, rumors: The Shield technically reunites

Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose Wikipedia

In what was initially billed as a three-way match, current WWE Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins will have to deal with three WWE superstars instead.

The original card was supposed to see Seth Rollins facing off against Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. But after Dean Amrose's victory over Rollins at WWE Raw, making him the fourth participant and thus changing the three-way match into a fatal-four way.

So with Rollins, Reigns and Ambrose slugging it out with Randy Orton for the WWE heavyweight championship, it indirectly reunites the original members of Shield.

But of course, it doesn't seem likely that the three will be working in cahoots although there are rumors flying that either Reigns or Ambrose would be turning heel and aiding Rollins retain his WWE title.

Of the two and if previous rumors are to be believed, Reigns is most likely to be the one to turn heel. That storyline came out even before Wrestlemania 31 though it was hard to picture how seeing that Rollins is a heel as well.

So will Reigns sell out? If the storyline is indeed to see one of the Shield members aid Rollins in the match, that is a huge possibility.

Rollins is expected to come out on top of the Fatal Four-Way as it may set the stage for the return of Brock Lesnar. On whether Lesnar appears on WWE Payback remains a mystery though word has it that the Beast Incarnate will be returning to the WWE scene soon.

After WWE Payback, there will be two more PPVs to follow before SummerSlam. These are WWE Money in the Bank and WWE Battleground. Lesnar's return could be on the next PPV which should be ample time to build up the storyline for the WWE SummerSlam Heavyweight joust.
