Rey Mysterio has long been gone from the WWE scene and while many knew that he was a bit undersized, the Mexican-American professional wrestler did carve out a name for himself during his regime.

He is best remembered as the smallest WWE Heavyweight champion who did the trick during Wrestlemania 22 on April 2, 2006 at the expense of Randy Orton.

With a lot of people left unconvinced that Mysterios was truly deserving to be call champion, Mysterio did defy the odds by using his agility, speed and high-flying maneuvers to wear down his opponents. In all, Mysterio has had a colorful career until injuries started to take its toll on his body.

His last match came in April 7 2014 in a WWE RAW episode where he lost to Bad News (King) Barrett. Since then there Mysterio has been out of sight.

But now, Mysterio (Oscar Gutierrez Rubio in real life) bares the real score on how he cut his ties in the WWE. And contrary to what some may think, he left in good terms.

Mysterio details all this on Wrestling Inc. shedding some light on how he departed through an interview with the Rolling Stone.

"Family was the biggest reason. If anything, I'll probably do appearances. I'm not trying to stay busy. I'm trying to enjoy my time at home and be around my kids. I want to vacation. I'm a big family guy. I want to do more with them. That was the primary reason that I stepped away"

At the moment, Rey Mysterio Jr. is now tied up with the Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). After being signed on March 3, 2015, it seems Mysterio still has the magic touch to compete despite fear of various injuries due to his high flying acts.

Now at 40, it looks like this will be Mysterio's final stop as far as his wrestling career is concerned.

Though it won't be surprising to see him make occasional appearances and eventually named as one of the WWE's future Hall of Famers, the fact remains that Mysterio has already accomplished a lot in his career in all organizations he has been affiliated with.
