Game publisher 2K Games announced that the upcoming "WWE 2K16" wrestling title will feature a retired wrestling star.

Retired pro-wrestler Steve Austin, better known to wrestling fans as Stone Cold, has been confirmed as the cover star for "WWE 2K16." To celebrate the announcement, a trailer has been revealed, shown on the most recent session of "WWE Monday Night Raw." In the video, Austin is seen preparing to dust off his old gear, especially the Smoking Skull championship belt he wore in 1999.

Austin stopped wrestling in 2003 due to recurring knee problems. These issues also forced him into an early retirement. Before his retirement, though, he won the WWE title six times before being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2009.

When asked about him gracing the cover for the latest installment in the long-running wrestling game franchise, Austin said that it got him thinking about his accomplishments in the field. In the official press statement, Stone Cold also added that he is honored to be given the privilege of appearing as the cover star.

He said, "I've had the privilege of working with 2K to support the WWE 2K franchise, and now I'm absolutely honoured to serve as the WWE 2K16 cover Superstar."

He also added that with his participation, he hopes there will be new positive developments in the franchise.

He stated, "No disrespect to the previous and extremely deserving WWE 2K cover superstars – Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and John Cena – but it's about time the franchise raised some hell with yours truly on the cover. I look forward to injecting a dose of Texas Rattlesnake into this year's game and overall campaign."

"WWE 2K16" will be released on Oct. 27 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
