'WWE 2K16' gameplay: New game features a different take on reversals

Long time players of wrestling video games, "WWE" games in particular, can attest to just how big of a role being able to reverse moves successfully plays in the game.

There are times when a single player can dominate a match just by virtue of being able to reverse every single offensive move, and times when a player cannot fight back simply because they aren't quick enough to hit the right button for the reversal.

This time around, the correct usage of reversals will be different for "WWE 2K16," according to IGN.

First off, wrestlers will now have reversal stocks they will need to manage while in a match, and not all characters have the same amount. The more technically proficient wrestlers will have more reversal stocks, while others might have less than that.

Obviously, players can't just use reversals every time because of the new wrinkle, and although the stocks will regenerate eventually, it will take some time to do so. This means that players will now need to decide when is the best time to use a reversal.

On top of that, there are now the so-called major reversals that cost two stocks to pull off. These reversals are more unique and also more difficult to complete, but the reward for doing so can lead to the player pulling off the move eventually, using that as a springboard to win the match.

The end result is that players now have to evaluate the exact point in the match when it is most advantageous for them to try a reversal.

In related news, WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel has confirmed that he will be appearing in "WWE 2K16," according to Wrestling Inc.

Finkel himself was the one to announce the news on Twitter, and he indicated that he will be part of the upcoming game's Showcase Mode.
