'WWE 2K17' release date, roster: McMachons back as playable characters

WWE 2K17 - Goldberg 2K Games

"WWE2K17" is one of the highly anticipated games for the year and wrestling fans are now excited about whom they will be able to play as when the game comes out in October. 2K Sports, the game publisher, recently revealed additional characters to the growing roster, and they include the McMahon family.

It seems that McMahon will also dominate the digital version of their business. Vince, Stephanie, and Shane will all be playable characters in the upcoming game. This was announced by Stephanie herself via a Twitter post. She said, "It's a family affair! Catch @VinceMcMahon, @shanemcmahon, and I in #WWE2K17! Check out @ IGN for Roster Reveal info."

The McMahon clan was first introduced with last year's version. Now, they will be joining firs-timers Shinsuke Nakamura, Nia Jax and Apollo Crews, who were all from NXT. Sasha Banks will also be coming in for the first time. Additionally, 27 wrestlers are already confirmed to join the game as well. These include Brock Lesner, John Cena and The Ultimate Warrior, Movie News Guide reported.

The Bitbag reported that "WWE 2K17" may focus on Shane McMahon this time around for the Showcase mode. He is also a wrestler -- not as good as the real superstars, but he normally does not back out when provoked for a match. His last one was against The Undertaker on WrestleMania 32, the Hell in Cell match. He lost.

Bill Goldberg is also included, but only unlockable for those making a pre-purchase of the game. He is playable in two versions since he started with WCW before joining WWE.

Fans can expect more player announcement as the launch date comes near.

"WWE 2K17" is slated to hit the shelves this coming Oct. 11 and will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 .
