WWE SummerSlam 2016 is over and it is on to the WWE Backlash, where WWE Champion Dean Ambrose will once again defend his title, this time against AJ Styles.

Both men came out of the second biggest WWE pay-per-view event as winners of their respective bouts, but The Phenomenal One's victory heralded what is being set out as a highlight of his career.

Styles beat John Cena fair and square at SummerSlam, but the victory meant more than just burying the superstar. It was his first time in his journey to a championship he should have trekked long ago.

Fansided says that his success over the 15-time world champion hints that WWE is cooking up exciting stuff for the superstar, which means that Styles might actually win the championship.

Styles has begun a new reign that media outlets do not imagine fading soon and it looks like the future is bright for The Phenomenal One's attempt at a world championship this time around.

Bleacher Report says that while it is an "intriguing" arrangement, a battle between Styles and Ambrose at Backlash certainly promise exciting action.

Styles earned the right to battle The Lunatic Fringe for the title in last Tuesday's Smackdown Live by defeating Dolph Ziggler. A win for The Showoff would have made a triple threat match for the title at Backlash.

Ziggler's defeats are bound to make a heel out of him, although he is expected to take it out all on returnee Curt Hawkins.

Going back to Styles, the crowd seems to love him even more and it showed when he beat Cena. It also spilled over last Tuesday and with a hardcore face like Ambrose, it will be exciting to see how WWE builds up their Backlash match.

The clash of the two in the ring is expected to be the highlight of the event, which will take place Sept. 11.
