'WWE Battleground 2016' rumors: will suspended star Roman Reigns to be the heel at event?

Rumor has it that on first match since his suspension, Roman Reigns will turn on Dean Ambrose in "WWE Battleground 2016."WWE.com

Although Roman Reigns is temporarily out of the WWE picture with a month-long suspension, the superstar is rumored to sill figure in the upcoming "WWE Battleground 2016," acting as the third wheel.

According to Bleacher Report, the upcoming weekend event should be showcasing a Triple Threat event among Reigns, Ambrose and Seth Rollins. However, Reigns was slapped with a 30-day suspension due to a wellness-policy violation. Fortunately for his fans, the suspension started June 21, so Reigns will still make it to the "WWE Battleground 2016" event on July 24. There are reports, though, that Vince McMahon still has the power to decide prior to the matchups. Reportedly, the WWE executive is livid with Reigns and may even think of kicking Reigns out of the Triple Threat picture.

However, the industry follower noted that WWE should capitalize on Reigns's suspension instead, making him the pinfall "bad guy" and hyping up an Ambrose versus Rollins matchup in another arena, the upcoming SummerSlam 2016. Reigns failing miserably will have the superstar kicked out of the championship running. This will eventually set up an Ambrose vs. Rollins session, alongside Lesnar vs. Orton, for the summer event.

Understandably, it will not only be McMahon who will be upset when Reigns finally returns, as his fans may feel some animosity for the superstar after his letting them down. In addition, having Reigns as the third man in the ring will possibly assemble a united Ambrose and Rollins fanbase.

The upcoming weekend event will not be the first appearance for Reigns post-suspension. It is reportedly confirmed that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion will have a guest appearance just a day before the event. Reigns will be present at the WWE Live Event on July 23 at Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwoods, New Jersey.
