John Cena is expected to take his leave of absence after WWE Hell in a Cell and such has left many wondering who would succeed him as United States champion.
It has yet to be revealed who Cena would be facing at the coming pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Oct. 25, although Big E of the New Day seems to be getting a push lately. But is Big E fit to be the next U.S. champion?
Aside from the big guy, who else could be fit to wear the U.S. championship belt? How about Dolph Ziggler?
One thing that he and Cena have in common is a diva called Nikki Bella. Apparently, Dolph and Nikki had a relationship before Cena entered the picture. And at the season four finale of "Total Divas," Ziggler revealed that he still has feelings for the former WWE Divas champion.
So what has this got to do with Ziggler winning the U.S. title?
To recall, Ziggler came rushing down at the last episode of WWE Raw to get payback on the New Day who were attacking Cena. However, an inadvertent super kick failed to hit its mark and landed on Cena.
Was it done on purpose or not? The wise money says no, but then again, Cena could take exception to it seeing that past of Nikki Bella.
It does sound a bit off, but just the same, a twist like that could make sense. But will the conflict evolve in time for WWE Hell in a Cell?
Whatever happens, it could be a possibility. The fact of the matter is Cena is still without an official opponent. Could it be Big E or Ziggler? What if it becomes a Triple Threat match?
The only thing certain is that whomever Cena faces, there will be a new U.S. champion before Cena goes on vacation. For how long is anyone's guess.
