WWE news: ISIS threats fail to scare off fans at WWE Survivor Series
Despite looming terror threats, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) fans camped out and showed that they were unafraid of the possible risks prior to the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view (PPV) held at the Philips Arena in Atlanta last Nov. 22.
To recall, World Wrestling Entertainment (WE) COO Triple H announced that the PPV would push through despite the alleged threats, collaborating with the FBI on the matter. It was the FBI who announced as well prior to the event that the threats lacked credibility.
While the 14,000 turnout was already a surprise in itself, the people there likewise showed their support for the victims of the Paris attacks.
Placards that showed "We are not afraid" were seen in light of the heinous events that saw 130 people dead and 352 injured, as reported via the Daily Mail.
Just the same, security was tight at the Philips Arena during the event, something that didn't really come as a surprise despite lack of credible reports on possible terror attacks occurring. The Philips Arena was mentioned as one of the targets of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and that such would occur at the WWE PPV by the FBI per reports by TMZ.
And as everyone perhaps know by now, the event did push through and the droves of WWE fans enjoyed the event that somehow managed to ease the tension a bit.
The event was highlighted by The Undertaker's 25th year, not to mention the highly anticipated results of the WWE heavyweight title tournament which saw Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose slugging it out in the finals.
Reigns won in the finals to become the new WWE heavyweight title but his rein didn't last long when Sheamus cashed in to snag the belt from the Big Dog.
Despite the title of the PPV, the company somehow did not focus on the actual essence of a Survivor Series matchup, pitting in some wrestlers only at the last minute which was a hardly impressive bunch if you think about the good old days when superstars were placed on both sides to build some excitement on who would be the last "survivor/s" standing.
