The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has seen careers end abruptly due to neck injuries and Randy Orton could join that list depending on the severity of his latest injury setback.

Orton has been out of the WWE for some time and much has been due to the fact that "The Viper" had recently undergone surgery to repair his shoulder. While he is currently on the road to recovery, it looks like he will be undergoing another one soon.

According to a report from the Examiner, Orton will need to undergo a second surgery after he recovers from the previous procedure to remove some bone chips on his neck.

While doctors claim that the injury is not serious, such remains to be seen. If it turns out to be as serious as thought, Orton may end up undergoing fusion surgery to repair his injured neck, which from the sound of it doesn't sound good at all.

A lot of WWE stars have seen their WWE careers cut short due to neck issues such as Stone Cold Steve Austin and Edge. If the neck injury is indeed classified serious, Orton risks joining that group and calling it a career.

Then again, there are some who made it like Daniel Bryan. But if it would be the same case as the bearded one, returning to WWE action may take some time.

The WWE has followed a strict policy for such, learning its lesson when it rushed Bryan back from his neck surgery last year.

Although he is out of the WWE right now because of another matter (concussion), the fact remains that the injury is delicate and could hamper him if he makes a return to the WWE ring prematurely.

Word on Orton's state comes at a time when the WWE are aching to see who could be called upon to provide the company some needed boost. The WWE ratings game continues to fall but with dwindling stars to turn to, such only adds to their woes.

Already out are Seth Rollins (knee) and Cesaro (shoulder). Hopefully, no one comes next.
