WWE rumors 2015: Who will step up in the absence of Seth Rollins?

As reported several days ago, Seth Rollins will be out of commission between six to nine months after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and medial meniscus on his right knee, a result of a bad landing during a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) live event held in Dublin, Ireland last Nov. 4.

Footage of how it happened spread over social medium Twitter and from the video alone, it was pretty clear that something went terribly wrong for Rollins.

As things stand now, Rollins will be out for WWE Survivor Series which has forced the WWE to make some last minute changes on how to go about crowning the new WWE heavyweight champion. The only thing sure is that Roman Reigns will be one of the main performers for that scheduled main event.

The WWE could opt to make it a similar one-on-one match with Reigns' opponent still a mystery, although the names of Brock Lesnar and even the vacationing John Cena come to mind.

If not a singles match, the WWE could opt to make it a Triple Threat or Fatal Four Way match to make the event more interesting.

Moving forward though, the question going around is on whether the injury of Rollins would be good or bad for the company. His temporary departure does open a lot of possibilities for other WWE stars to get the bump outside of Reigns, who is expected to get that long awaited push.

Speaking of pushes, names like Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler, or even Kevin Owens come to mind, although it remains to be seen who will step up and benefit. Moreover, will that particular star be good for the WWE as it tries to find a way to boost its faltering ratings?

This is not to say that the WWE failed miserably in choosing Rollins as heavyweight champion. Rather, a new fresh face could possibly do better. On who that is and if it will indeed tilt the WWE ratings a bit remain to be seen.
