WWE rumors 2016: Triple H becomes heavyweight champion again with Royal Rumble win

The 2016 World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Royal Rumble has just concluded and the outcome was hardly surprising, seeing that Triple H was the odds-on-favorite to win the WWE pay-per-view (PPV) in the first place.

Speculation on the possible appearance of WWE was rumored days before the event. He came out as the 30th and last participant in the 2016 Royal Rumble, WWE chairman's last ace as he pulled of everything to make sure that Reigns would not come out as champion.

Triple H was even the one who eliminated Reigns when the Big Dog tossed Sheamus over the top rope. With his guard down, such served as an opportunity for the Cerebral Assassin and capped it with his familiar Degeneration X gesture.

Not too many were pleased with the outcome, although a Reigns victory would have been disastrous as well.

The boos were obviously heard and none of the fans over at the Amway Center wanted to see Reigns ending up winning the rumble for the second year in the row.

Despite the displeasure of some, Triple H did enter to a chorus of cheers. But was he the best choice?

Dean Ambrose was in a good position to win the rumble, while Lesnar was obviously not scripted to be the winner of it all.

Ambrose recently got it on with Kevin Owens in a punishing Last Man Standing match, although it remains unclear if that feud is already over.

Lesnar, on the other hand, has been the target of the Wyatt Family, a sign that fans may indeed see him and Bray Wyatt square off (eventually) at Wrestlemania 32.

Of course, there is still WWE Fastlane coming up, so the storylines could still change this February.

But as far as a Triple H vs. Reigns setto for the annual WWE extravaganza is concerned, expect more twists and work to be done particularly on the part of Reigns who seems to have dropped back to his original problem of appeasing the WWE Universe.
