WWE rumors, news 2016: victory for AJ Styles over John Cena at SummerSlam? Dean Ambrose may be next

AJ Styles met a bitter defeat at the hands of his nemesis John Cena at the WWE Battleground 2016, where the two warriors fought with two more fighters by their side.

In the recently concluded pay-per-view event, Cena caught up with Styles and closed the gap, levelling the playing field. The leader of Cenation had lost to Styles at the Money in the Bank.

Cena got back at his rival at the WWE Battleground, but the feud is yet to see its end. WWE SummerSlam is expected to be the venue where they finally see who really is the better fighter.

According to reports, Styles will take the win at the August pay-per-view event, seeing that he was beaten up at Battleground. This is reportedly how this feud will end.

However, according to Bleacher Report, Dean Ambrose's win at Battleground paved the way for the Styles and Cena feud to prolong way beyond SummerSlam.

Due to The Lunatic's victory, the title was kept at SmackDown. It is expected that with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins on Raw (possibly feuding for the newly-created WWE Universal title) Cena and Styles will go after Ambrose for the belt.

Bleacher Report imagines Cena and Styles interfering each other's matches as they determine who gets a shot at the title. The publication believes that this will be settled at WWE SummerSlam 2016.

Meanwhile, Richard Gray of Wrestling News World believes that Styles will emerge victorious in the Brooklyn event. Referring to him as "one of the most talented workers in the world," Gray believes that it is about time for WWE to see Styles' potential to carry a brand.

"Styles is there but he needs another boost to be booked with confidence. A possible victory against John Cena at SummerSlam would be a massive step in the right direction. Styles is 39 years old and his back isn't in the best shape. The time is now if WWE is going to push him at the top," he explained.

The WWE SummerSlam will take place on Aug. 21 at the Barclays Center.
