Finn Balor sustained a nasty shoulder injury following his match against Seth Rollins at WWE SummerSlam 2016 for the Universal Championship. It turns out that relinquishing the belt is just one of the things he will be forced to do due to his condition.

While the Demon King is on the mend, the injury is so serious that he might be sidelined for a long while. Balor recently gave an update on his injury and revealed it is much more severe than anticipated.

He was expecting to be back in the WWE ring after four months. It is no longer the case as he has been ordered by the doctor to rehabilitate for at least six months. "Never in my life has six months felt so long. I don't know how I'm going to cope with being out of the ring for that long," Balor said in a video update. "I'm pretty gutted about the amount of work I'm going to miss. It's going to be a long road back, maybe 180-190 days. I'm really hoping that it gets better because if every day is like today it's going to be pretty tough," he went on to say.

That gives Balor a possible comeback by February, but if it takes longer than that, he is closer to missing Wrestlemania aka the biggest pay-per-view event in WWE, which will definitely frustrate him as much as it will frustrate fans. Balor was being poised as one of the top guys in WWE. Even though he was just drafted to the main roster, he already defeated former World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and became the first Universal Champion. He quickly grew his fanbase as well. WWE appeared to have big plans for the former NXT champion, but this changed all of a sudden at SummerSlam. However, with so much excitement surrounding Balor's return, it can be imagined that his return, especially if it will happen in Wrestlemania 33, will definitely be a massive deal. Just recently, Balor congratulated Kevin Owens for winning the title in a fatal four-way match against Rollins, Big Cass and Roman Reigns last Monday, Aug. 29.
