Simon Kinberg, the writer and producer of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and the upcoming 2015 American superhero film "Fantastic Four," teased fans about the possibility of an "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" crossover.

"The reboot of 'FanFour' really needed to work in and of itself. We were doing something pretty radical with the tone of the movie," he said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.  "If we wanted to find a way to connect them to the X-Men, we could. There's a lot of precedent from the comics."

While the writer of the upcoming superhero movie has not confirmed whether or not upcoming films will provide an amalgamation of several plots from different storylines, Kinberg has not dispelled the possibility of the "Fantastic Four" franchise intersecting with the "X-Men" franchise.

In addition to this, he also noted the significance of Toby Kebbell's character, which is none other than Doctor Doom. He said that the superhero team's archvillain will be the key component for the film's financial and critical success. While the previous two "Fantastic Four" films, which were released in 2005 and 2007, were considered to be financially successful films, both of them were bombarded with negative reviews.

The first film was criticized for having a loose plot coupled with lack of originality, which were the core reasons why the 2005 film garnered an egregious 27 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel did not do much to improve those reviews, as "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" got a 37 percent rating from the same film review aggregator website.

The upcoming film is scheduled for release on Aug. 7 in North America, and will be played in 2D and 3D theatres. The cast of the film includesMichael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Kate Mara as Invisible Woman, Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, and Jamie Bell as The Thing.
