'X-Men: Apocalypse' character rumors: Movie to bring back young William Stryker

"X-Men: Apocalypse" had a very active panel during the San Diego Comic-Con which revealed concept art and a short footage of the film in action, including early shots of Oscar Isaac as the villain Apocalypse. Not everything was revealed at the Comic-Con, however, as actor Nicholas Hoult spilled some spoilers during an interview with Conan O'Brien.

Some of the main cast members of the film appeared on "Conan" on TBS, including Hoult, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, and Olivia Munn, who play Beast, Magneto, Professor X, and Psylocke, respectively. They mostly discussed what it was like working on the film and some of their off-screen antics such as firing BB guns at each other.

However, during this conversation, Hoult named Josh Helman as one of their BB gun targets, hinting that the actor was also shooting scenes for "X-Men: Apocalypse." Helman was previously seen in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" as William Stryker, the man responsible for turning Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) into Weapon X.

It was Stryker who took Wolverine and implanted adamantium steel over his entire skeleton and was also the man responsible for the mutant's amnesia. The character, mentioned in "X-Men: First Class," was previously played by Brian Cox in "X2: X-Men United" and by Danny Huston in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

The possibility of Stryker being in the film could hint that Wolverne is making an appearance as well. Actor Hugh Jackman was the one who introduced the members of the Comic-Con panel but he was not officially listed as a cast member, leading fans to speculate if he will only appear in a cameo role, perhaps showcasing how he escaped Stryker's facilities and joined the X-Men.

There is always the possibility that Stryker's involvement in the film has nothing to do with Wolverine and might be more involved with the new characters such as Psylocke and Angel.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
