"X-Men: Apocalypse" will feature a whole roster of mutants as they prepare themselves to take on an ancient yet powerful and malicious force called Apocalypse or En Sabah Nur. And with the amount of time remaining for the film to hit theatres, fans can still expect a boatload of surprises along with way.

For instance, writer and producer Simon Kinberg spoke about the return of a character who appeared in "X-Men: First Class."  In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he revealed that Rose Byrne will be reprising her role as Moira MacTaggert, a CIA agent as well as a mutant ally.

Kinberg also stated that the actress will play a major role in the film that will touch on her relationship with Charles Xavier, to be played by James McAvoy.

"She's a significant character in the movie," Kinberg said. "We ended 'First Class' with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them. It's certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in 'First Class', and would like to mine more in this one."

In addition to Byrne and McAvoy, Michael Fassbender will also be returning as Erik Lensherr.  Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult will reprise their roles as Mystique and Beast, respectively. Young Jean Grey will be introduced for the first time, to be played by "Game of Thrones" actress Sophie Turner, along with young Storm (Alexandra Shipp) and young Cyclops (Tye Sheridan). Unfortunately, it was settled earlier on that Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will not be returning as the elder Magneto and Professor X, although fans are still hoping for a change in that respect.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2016.
