Twentieth Century Fox has released the latest trailer for the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" film, which is set in the 1980s and sees the titular heroes face against Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac). As pointed out in a report from Collider, the trailer reveals several key plot details but the most substantial is the confirmation that Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is in the movie.

The character's face is not shown in the trailer and the only teaser is Wolverine snapping his claws into action. It is speculated that this may mean Hugh Jackman is not the actor portraying the character and that the studios have cast a younger actor to fill in the role, although this has not been confirmed or denied at this point.

Wolverine, whether played by Jackman or someone else, appears to be escaping from the Weapon X program that turned him into the famous character he is. It was during this program that he gained the adamantium skeleton and the trailer hints that the other X-Men members, such as Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), may have been kept at the same prison facility.

Wolverine's cameo appearance is not the only big plot detail revealed in the trailer. According to a report from Cinema Blend, it is hinted that Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) will be the leader of the X-Men given that Professor Xavier (James McAvoy) may have been abducted by Apocalypse. 

Xavier's abduction is teased several times in the trailer, with the mansion exploding and Quicksilver (Evan Peters) rushing in to save someone from the flames. Xavier is also shown being defeated by Apocalypse right before the trailer cuts to a scene of Beast (Nicholas Hoult) telling Mystique that they need to assemble a team.

Several sublots are also hinted in the trailer, from Quicksilver admitting that Magneto (Michael Fassbender) is his father to Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) meeting Mystique, who in the comic books turns out to be his mother, for the first time,

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters this May 27.
