The next installment of the "X-Men" franchise might be the most heartbreaking yet. Moviegoers will once again see Jean Grey, now played by Sophie Turner, transform into Dark Phoenix just like in 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand." However, her descent to the dark side will be graver this time around that it will cause a major casualty.

Citing sources close to the film, The Hashtag Show reports "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" is going to show the full range of Jean Grey's Phoenix powers only for them to become too much for her to handle. This causes her to accidentally impale one of the major characters from "First Class," unequivocally killing" them and further pushing her into darkness.

"Our source told us that Kindberg is going to show us exactly how powerful Jean is and is willing to do it at the expense of one of the actors who has been with the franchise since the beginning," The Hashtag Show says.

For those who want to keep track, only four characters from "First Class" are still around – Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Charles Xavier/Professor X (James McAvoy), Hank McCoy (Nicholas Hoult), and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence). It has not been revealed which character will bite the dust, but it was Professor X who Jean accidentally killed in "The Last Stand."

Despite that, there is a possibility he will survive this time. If he dies again, fans may accuse "Dark Phoenix" of recycling the past installment.

According to Cinema Blend, the odds are also high for Lawrence's character to bite the dust, seeing how the actress has often been rumored to be exiting the franchise. Magneto is also a candidate, though, as he is significantly more equipped to go against Dark Phoenix. Their battle could set up the impalement scenario, leading to the big death. Regardless, if the rumor does prove to be accurate, it will no doubt leave the fans devastated.

"X-Men: The Dark Phoenix" has already wrapped principal photography. Also starring Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver, the Simon Kinberg-directed film will hit theaters on Nov. 2, 2018.
