2018 seems to be the year for the X-Men movies, and as of late, updates regarding the three ongoing productions have come out. Last week saw the release of the first teaser for "New Mutants" alongside the news that it has wrapped filming.

Over the weekend, director Simon Kinberg revealed in an Instagram post that "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" has also officially wrapped production. The fourth film in the current mainstream X-Men team-up movies, "Dark Phoenix" takes place in the 90s, after the events of "X-Men: Apocalypse." It will center on Sophie Turner's Jean Grey, who deals with the very powerful Phoenix Force that is using her as a host.

In the comics, Jean Grey becomes possessed by the Phoenix Force, resulting in the "Dark Phoenix Saga," which leads into the conflict between the cosmic Shi'Ar Empire and the X-Men that involves a trial-by-combat between the two forces on the Blue Area of the Moon to determine Jean's fate.

"Dark Phoenix" also serves as Kinberg's directorial debut, having been a producer of the X-Men films since "X-Men: The Last Stand" with the exception of "The Wolverine." Turner also shared a photo on social media with her and Kinberg saying that she had also finished filming.

Alongside Turner, "Dark Phoenix" also stars James McAvoy, Micharl Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Evan Peters, Jennifer Lawrence, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, all of whom are reprising their roles from the previous films. Jessica Chastain has also joined the cast in a mystery role, but was heavily speculated to be playing the movie's supposed antagonist, Lilandra.

Olivia Munn, despite not being officially confirmed to return in the upcoming installment, did previously hint that she is reprising her role as Betsy Braddock/Psylocke. She also hinted at the time that the film could be split into a few parts.

Speaking with Collider, Munn revealed that the film is like a two-part movie. She went on to praise Kinberg on his work in the X-Men franchise. "He's such a visionary. We're all so close. Anytime that you're working on a project where everyone hangs out and they're close, it's a breeding ground for great content and a great experience. I think Simon is gonna kill it. He's gonna do such a fantastic job with it," said Munn.

"X-Men: Dark Phoenix" is expected to premiere on Nov. 2, 2018.
