With only a few days remaining in December, it is time for Xbox Live Gold subscribers to take their attention to the new free games lineup next month. Microsoft has yet to reveal the free video games to be included in the Xbox Games With Gold catalog for January 2018. However, the rumors are rife that the players will get to see at least one gigantic title arriving this New Year.

While every detail remains speculative at this point, it is likely that another AAA title will lead the January 2018 free games list for Xbox Games With Gold. Specifically, this huge video game could be "Dishonored: Definitive Edition." Given the huge fan base of this series, the game being included in next month's lineup is not a far-fetched idea, especially after the success of the "Dishonored" sequel in November 2016. To note, the Definitive Edition includes the main game and the recent DLC packs, as well as the improved graphics features for next-gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

If the January 2018 free games lineup does not include "Dishonored," it is possible that the list will have one spot secured for another Telltale Games title. The games from this studio are no stranger to Xbox Live Gold subscribers. In fact, the November and December 2017 lineup includes the Telltale hits "Tales from the Borderlands" and "Back to the Future: The Game." This time around, the big Telltale video game expected to hit the Xbox Games With Gold catalog next month is "Game of Thrones." Many players are likely to welcome this addition, given the HBO series' successful season 7 run this year.

Meanwhile, Express UK reported that there will be no more game titles with Xbox Backwards Compatibility to be released in the remaining days of 2017. So far, the last game titles released by Microsoft with Backwards Compatibility are "Earth Defense Force 2017" and "Sonic Adventure 2." Xbox executive Major Nelson confirmed that the release of Backwards Compatibility titles will resume after the New Year, with some likely to be included in the coming month's Xbox Games With Gold lineup.
