Xbox Live Games with Gold May 2016Xbox website

Xbox Live Games with Gold has been updated on the official Xbox website and the list of downloadable games for the month of May has been listed. As usual, these games are free to download for any Games with Gold subscriber, a paid monthly subscription that gives free games to its members every month.

Starting May 1, Xbox One players will be able to download "Defense Grid 2," a very popular tower defense title that initially started as a Kickstarter project. The game did not meet its Kickstarter goals but was later saved by an investor that allowed the game to push forward and be released.

On the same day "Grid 2" was made available for Xbox 360 players and it is also available to Xbox One players due to the latter's Backward Compatibility feature. Developed by Codemasters, "Grid 2" is a different take on the traditional racing genre as it mixes arcade-style gameplay with realistic simulation.

By May 15 two more games will become available. Xbox One owners will be able to acquire "Costume Quest 2," a light-hearted RPG game where players control a group of children donning their costumes and embarking on a quest to save Halloween. The game has been released for every console and is currently in discussion for a New 3DS release.

Xbox 360 owners will be able to download "Peggle," a game developed by PopCap Games. This was the developer's most popular title before they released "Plants vs Zombies" and is a staple in many Xbox 360 owner's library. The game requires the player to fire colored pegs at specific targets, typically pegs of a certain color.

As stated in a report from Game Rant, games for the Xbox One will be available for download for 30 full days while the ones for the Xbox 360 will only be available for 15 days due to the rotating schedule of Xbox 360 games in the Games with Gold program.
