Xbox Live with Gold February 2015 free games list coming;'IDARB' confirmed

One of the free games that will be included in the February 2015 release of Xbox Live with Gold was announced earlier than the rest.

As early as December last year, Major Nelson announced that the eight-player 2D platform game "It Draws A Red Box" will come out as a free game for Xbox Live subscribers in February. The game, which is also known as "IDARB," is a platformer that merges basketball and hockey into one fun-filled game. The simple crowd-sourced game was developed by Other Ocean Interactive.

But aside from "IDARB," Microsoft is still quiet about the other free games that will come with it next month.

Meanwhile, game publisher Perfect World Entertainment announced that their new free-to-play massive multiplayer online role-playing game "Neverwinter" will begin its closed beta next month for Xbox One consoles. The highly successful MMORPG that was initially released on the PC platform will be brought to the new console early this year after a closed beta phase was staged for three days, starting Feb. 5. The new feature of the "Neverwinter" Xbox One edition will include an integrated friends list as well as optimized controls function.

"Neverwinter" was taken from the "Dungeons & Dragons" universe, and was initially scheduled to be distributed as a cross media event alongside the release of R.A. Salvatore's four fantasy books as well as a tabletop game based on the "Wizards of Coast." Perfect World CEO Alan Chen discussed the decision to bring the successful game to consoles.

Chen said in a statement, as quoted by Gamespot, "Consoles are a perfect fit for action-oriented MMORPGs like Neverwinter, and we are thrilled to be one of the first publishers to bring premium free-to-play titles to leading next-gen platforms."

The "Neverwinter" Xbox One edition can be downloaded on the scheduled date for free, as long as the players have an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.

The rest of the titles included in the Xbox Live with Gold free games list for February 2015 is expected to come out next week.
