Three new games have been added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility list, allowing gamers who own Xbox 360 games to play the titles on their Xbox One. Two of these titles are part of the "Puzzle Quest" series, and the other is a racing game featuring a majority of "Sonic the Hedgehog" and Sega characters.

Xbox's Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, made the announcement via Twitter, confirming that "Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed" had been added to the Xbox One Backward Compatibility feature alongside "Puzzle Quest 2" and "Puzzle Quest: Galactix."

"Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed" sees Sonic, Amy, Tails, and other "Sonic" characters compete in a kart-racing game also starring many Sega icons such as Joe Musashi, NiGHTS, Alex Kidd, BD Joe from "Crazy Taxi," and Beat from "Jet Set Radio." The game also sees the racing karts transform into a boat or plane.

"Puzzle Quest 2" and "Puzzle Quest: Galactix" both use a puzzle game mechanic similar to the popular "Bejeweled" series. However, they also feature a full-blown campaign and story mode. "Puzzle Quest: Galactix" in particular changes the formula by using hexagonally shaped puzzle pieces as well as gravity effects.

It is noted that "Puzzle Quest" 2 is the final main entry in the franchise. Since 2010 the series has delved into licensed variants such as the recent "Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest" game.

As reported by Gamespot, adding these three games now makes the full catalog of Xbox One backward compatible games up to 250. A full list can be viewed on the official site.

The feature was introduced back in November 2015, and according to the report, users have spent well over 145 million hours playing Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One. It should be noted that the Playstation 4 does not feature backward compatibility, meaning those interested in playing a PS3 game must play it on a PS3 and not a PS4.
