Tom Clancy's stealth-action game, "Splinter Cell Conviction," has now been added to the growing roster of Xbox One's backward compatibility lineup joining the ranks of other popular Xbox games of the past — "Far Cry 2," "Black," "Sniper Elite," and much more.

Larry Hryb, Microsoft's Director of Programming for Xbox Live, broke the news of the game's introduction to Xbox's backward compatibility program.

"Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction is coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today," Hryb announced.

Users can now officially download and play the game which comes at 50% off as part of Ubisoft's ongoing publisher sale.

Ever since backward compatibility was announced years ago, avid fans of the series have been clamoring for the acclaimed adventure game to be released as backward compatible with Xbox One.

"Splinter Cell Conviction" now officially joins two other of Clancy's games available on the platform — "Rainbow Six Vegas 1" and "Rainbow Six Vegas 2."

During its initial release in 2010, "Splinter Cell Conviction" garnered positive reviews and a strong cult following derived from its incredible storytelling and amazing action sequences.

The story of Splinter Cell's series revolves around an operative named Sam Fisher. However, in "Splinter Cell Conviction," the narrative takes a dramatic turn with Fisher becoming a renegade racing against time to stop a deadly terrorist assault.

The Xbox One backward compatibility program was first announced in the first half of 2015. "Splinter Cell Conviction" is now the 471st game to be included in the still growing roster of first and second-generation games inside the backwards compatibility program.
