Xbox One Summer Update 2016 release date: Cortana, background music and more with latest patch

Microsoft has rolled out its summer system update for the Xbox One. The update brings in several new features, such as Cortana, background music support, improved UI and several more. It also includes some bug fixes to make things work more smoothly.

The Xbox One Summer Update includes:

Gamers in the U.S. and U.K.can now do more with their Xbox One by simply using their voice. It will work either with their headset or Kinect, with its improved accuracy, natural language recognition and text dictation. Cortana can turn your console on, find new games, party setup, and more. The company promised that over time, Cortana will be able to do more, making it the ultimate digital assisting.

Background Music - This feature will now allow the users to listen to their favorite music while playing their favorite games be it on a USB thumb drive or an external drive. Soon it will also be able to play streaming music, which, Xbox is now in partnership with Pandora, Groove Music, and iHeartRadio.

Improved Game Collection - Thelatest update also brings in a updated Game Collection UI. It will now be faster and easier to find that specific game on the collection. "Ready to Install" and "Updates" tabs will allow its users to access the information they want quickly.

Combined Xbox and Windows Store - Microsoftalso decided to make things simpler and easier. They have merge the Xbox Store and Windows Store, which can also be access with other devices. Gamers will now have the ability to sort the available games through genre, reviews, pricing and more.

Facebook Friend Finder - Xbox One users can now connect with their playing Facebook friends. It will now be easier to connect with each other and enjoy some games together.

Improved Sharing - Screenshots, achievements and recorded game clips can also be shared easily with this new feature. It can also be set to share automatically now.

Additionally, the Xbox App is now available for iOs and Android mobile operating systems. This will bring many of its users connected to the Xbox Live community via their smartphones.

However, no details were given by the Xbox team about the improvements included with the 400 MB Summer Update, MSPower User added.
