Xbox Project Scorpio vs. PlayStation 4 Pro: the latest powerful consoles go head to head

The battle for the best new games console is about to begin after Sony revealed that they will start shipping their latest PlayStation 4 Pro platform on Thursday — one year before Microsoft releases their own Xbox Project Scorpio.

Reports claim that the new console from Sony will bring in more gaming power by introducing the 4K resolution support. On the other hand, the next Xbox One edition, also known as Xbox One S, will include more media enhancements for a better entertainment experience.

According to reports, the PlayStation 4 Pro will be equipped with a special processor from AMD called the x86-64 AMD Jaguar, with octa-core that is clocked at 2.1GHz. It will also come out with an AMD Radeon-based 4.2 TFLOPS GPU that that is clocked at 911MHz with 36 compute units. It will also have a 1 TB built-in storage space, with GDDR5 8GB plus 1GB DRAM memory. This makes the upcoming console more powerful than the standard PlayStation 4 model.

On the other hand, little is known about the actual specs of Xbox Project Scorpio since Microsoft opted to keep the details in the dark. However, there are reports claiming that the next Xbox console will feature a dual functionality that will let players enjoy watching HDR and 4K videos. It is also expected to come out with better specs for Virtual Reality gaming.

Perhaps the advantage of Sony's upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro could be the device's release date since it will come out in stores on Nov. 10. On the other hand, those who are waiting for the Xbox Project Scorpio will still have to wait until the later part of 2017. This means that Sony's upcoming device will have a chance to dominate the market for one whole year on its own.

The PlayStation 4 Pro will be sold for $399 upon release, while the Xbox Project Scorpio is expected come out with at least a $500 price tag.
