The ball is back in Microsoft's court now that Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro is out. And as expected, Microsoft took the time to remind everyone that the Scorpio is going to be much better than PS4 Pro when it comes out next year.

Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg was at the Xbox FanFest (via GameSpot) in Mexico City on Nov. 11 to 13, and he told the crowd gathered there that the Scorpio was going to be "most powerful console you've ever seen."

"It will bring these really true 4K, really incredible visual games that we've never seen before on the console. People who have spent thousands of dollars on a high-end PC are getting that experience. How do we bring that to scale in a console in your living room? That's a big part of what Project Scorpio is about," he said.

Well, he's not just making an idle boast. The console will have six teraflops of power. That's almost on par with some of the high-end graphics cards in the market right now. It will also support virtual reality and deliver true 4K gaming.

The Scorpio is not going to be cheap, though. Xbox division head Phil Spencer told LevelUp that the console is obviously going to cost more than the Xbox One S. However, he did not reveal the actual price of the console.

The 500 GB Xbox One S is priced at $299 right now, so how much will the Scorpio cost? Gamepur thinks the base model of the console may cost $399. The PS4 Pro is also priced at $399. Will Microsoft price the Scorpio similar to the PS4 Pro? The console is supposed to be more powerful than its rival.

Could the console cost more than the PS4 Pro? Spencer did say the Scorpio was "for a high-end consumer who demands the maximum of a console."

The Xbox Scorpio will come out during the holiday season next year.
