"XCOM 2" recently launched to critical acclaim but as pointed out by a report from PC Gamer, fans have started to voice out that the game is experiencing technical hiccups, particularly framerate drops, even on high-end computers. Publisher 2K has now responded by stating that the issue will be addressed soon.

"We are aware some players have experienced performance issues while playing XCOM 2, and we are looking into them and gathering more information from users. We want everyone to have the best experience possible, and will continue supporting the title with upcoming patches," reads the official statement from the 2K forums.

According to PC Gamer, this may indicate that a patch fix is already in the works and may be releasing very soon although no specific release window has been given by the developers or publisher at the time being.

It is important to note that not every copy of the game is experiencing issues. RockPaperShotgun reports that while the game experiences a few technical problems on some high-end computers it appears to be running smoothly for others. At the time of writing, the exact cause of this random performance problem is still unidentified.

For the time being, 2K has listed down several guidelines on how to improve the game's performance until a proper fix can be patched into the game. Some of these guidelines include turning off anti-aliasing, turning down the preset graphics, updating drivers and uninstalling user-created mods.

The guidelines also state that some users have reported of the game crashing when a USB controller is plugged into the PC and suggests removing the controller and rebooting the game to test if it will still experience the same problem.

"XCOM 2" is the direct follow-up to the 2012 reboot of the franchise, "XCOM: Enemy Unknown," and has garnered critical praise, currently scoring 4.5 out of 5 on Metacritic despite its current performance problems.
