Much of changes for the planned sequel of shooter RPG "XCOM" is on its overhauled story. However, it was also revealed that aside from the plot, "XCOM 2" is also set to introduce improvements on its gameplay and design.

In an exclusive interview with game site Gamespot, "XCOM 2" lead producer Garth DeAngelis laid out the new features to be included in the sequel, starting with an additional character class for players.

Dubbed as the Sharpshooter class, the next-generation long-range fighter in "XCOM 2" is an upgrade to the sniper class. Although this would be great news for those who prefer long-range tactics over battling in close-quarters, players of the previous "XCOM" title would undoubtedly be complaining about the new class. In terms of power balance in the first game, many players are in agreement that the sniper is an over-powered class.

However, DeAngelis said that the developers were aware of the complaints and have listened to player feedback. Aside from lowering the stats for the sniper class in "XCOM 2," the developers at Firaxis Games have also laid out a more balanced long-range fighter in the Sharpshooter class.

DeAngelis said, "Now we have an appealing second perk tree that was not just purely, 'let's max out our sniper, and make them this long-range, high damage dealer'."

The lead producer also stated that aside from long-range fighting, the Sharpshooter class will also be made more balanced even in close-quarter fights.

DeAngelis added, "You can choose to specialize in the sniper rifle or you can actually specialize in pistols. Pistols now have become this very appealing weapon that the sharpshooter can use in new and interesting ways, unlike any ways that you used in 'Enemy Unknown'."

"XCOM 2" is slated to be released in November for PC.
