Fans are looking forward to Xiaomi's next flagship launch next week. However, getting close to its debut, conflicting reports on the Mi Note 2 continue to surface. Latest rumors suggest that the new flagship has been photographed in the wild, featuring only a single-lens camera.

According to Xiaomi Today, the supposed live images surfaced courtesy of China-based social media site Weibo. The photos showcase what purportedly is the back panel of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship. While it remains unconfirmed, the images put to test previous rumors about the flagship, as they highlight the flagship only having a single-lens camera on the back.

This disputes previous speculations about the new flagship. Prior to the images, supposed leaks of the specs and features list of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 mention that the new flagship will feature a dual camera setup as its main camera.

It should be noted, though, that although the images came out of China, they remain unconfirmed until Xiaomi makes the Mi Note 2 official. The new flagship is confirmed to be launched at a press event next week, on Oct. 25.

Meanwhile, aside from the back panel, some of the images also highlight the side edges of the purported Mi Note 2, supposedly confirming that the flagship will come out with a dual-edge display.

Although Xiaomi already announced a launch date for its next flagship, confirmed specs and features for the Mi Note 2 remain scarce. Speculations suggest that the new flagship will use the step-up Snapdragon 821 processor paired with either 4 or 6 GB of RAM. There might also be a Pro version, with a massive 8-GB RAM and 256 GB of onboard storage.

Other purported specs and features include an ultrafast fingerprint scanner, near-invisible bezels for its display, and QHD screen for its top-tier variant. It is also said that the Mi Note 2 will be the most expensive Xiaomi flagship to date, reaching above $650 for its base model.
