Xiaomi's previous flagship smartphone, the Mi 4 is about to have a contender that will most likely decrease the price and performance gap that the Mi 4 has created. According to Gizmochina, Xiaomi's E4 handset has passed the certification process of TENAA and is said to be carrying 2 GB of RAM. The source states that the only two differences separating the E4 and the Mi 4 will be that the latter possesses 3 GB of RAM coupled with a larger price tag.

The website states that the starting price tag of the E4 will be 1,799 Yuan, or $289 and all other hardware specifications will remain consistent between the two smartphones, apart from the RAM difference. However, users will still not receive an option to expand their storage because similar to the Mi 4, the upcoming handset will be shipping out in the 16 and 64 GB variants. Regardless, for the aforementioned price tag, users are going to receive a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset that features a quad-core Krait processor having a base clock frequency of 2.5 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Irrespective of the fact that the chipset present inside both devices is a couple of generations older than the Snapdragon 810, it will still be able to provide the user with a fluid Android smartphone experience. In addition, the E4 will also be featuring a 5 inch display that will radiate the 1080p resolution and provide the necessary amount of battery life with be a large 3,080 mAh battery pack. The E4 will also be equipped with an LTE modem along with an 802.11 ac wireless adapter.

The E4's rear and front camera sensors will be 13 and 5 megapixels respectively and the device is expected to run Google's Lollipop 5.0 update 'out of the box'. Xiaomi has not given word on when it plans on releasing the E4, but to gain a tactical advantage in the smartphone market, the tech firm will most likely be making an official announcement when its Chinese rival, OnePlus prepares to release its flagship smartphone, the OnePlus Two.
