Speculations suggest that Xiaomi is working on a new phablet lineup and will dub it as the Xiaomi Max. If the supposed leaks about the Max are proven true, then the next Xiaomi flagship is indeed a monster of a phablet, with at least a 6.4-inch display.

According to GSM Arena, news out of China has published what appear to be some early images of the Xiaomi Max. The industry follower said that while remaining unconfirmed, the said images seem to come straight from the China-based tech manufacturer's production line, and showcases the front panel of the rumored Max iteration. It is also revealed that the new Max seems to be a blown-up version of the Xiaomi Mi 5, at least in the form factor and design. The panel displays the same placements of the earpiece, sensor array, and capacitive keys.

However, there also seems to be minor differences, like the absence of a physical home button. It is believed that the Xiaomi Max, although it doesn't have a home button, will still feature a fingerprint reader by having it integrated on the back of the device like how it featured in the Mi 4s and Redmi Note 3.

AndroidPit believes that being a new flagship iteration, Xiaomi will feature top-tier internals in the upcoming Max lineup. Rumor has it that the new phablet will feature a Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with at least 4 GB of RAM. Xiaomi can even go a step further, and as the Max can be viewed as a phablet hybrid (due to its massive size), the tech manufacturer may well include top-tier 6- and 8-GB RAM versions.

The industry observer also said that since the Max is getting some ideas from the Mi 5, it can be expected that it will feature the same ceramic-backed design as with the current Mi flagship. This will make the Xiaomi Max one of the strongest phablets for this year, and will also complement well with the Mi 5 flagship.
