Xiaomi Mi 4i and Micromax Yu Yuphoria specs, price: Could be a problem for Samsung and Motorola soon
Should big time players like Samsung and Motorola be worried about the release of much cheaper and high-end smartphones from Xiaomi and Micromax?
With both companies launching their lower priced handsets carrying impressive specifications, big time players like Samsung, Motorola or even Apple could be in for some rough sailing as far as smartphone sales are concerned.
From the looks of it right now, the brand is what keeps them afloat. But as consumer become wiser and look for more value for their money, an impending concern could be in the form of what features modern smartphones bring to the consumer market right now could override that.
Xiaomi is of course known to come out with smartphones with high specs and at an affordable price. Just recently they unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 4i which is expected to do well like most of its previous versions.
The Xiaomi Mi 4i features a 5-inch screen and runs on a Qualcomm processor said to be powerful than the Snapdragon 615 which is backed by 2GB of RAM and includes 16GB of storage. It also has a 13MP main camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The Xiaomi Mi 4i carries a retail price of about $200.
On the other end, Micromax of India has released the Yu Yuphoria as well. The device boasts of features that include a 5-inch (720x1280 pixel screen), runs on a Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB or internal storage. It has in tow an 8MP main camera and a 5MP front shooter. A unit retails for just $110 contract-free.
The two devices may not cover a global reach but still, they are devices to consider. Compared to the devices that Samsung, Motorola and Apple have, the price to get one is pretty much decent.
The specs alone are something to consider. With those specs, the big players will most likely be able to match that but at a severely higher price.
Given those specs and price ranges, should Samsung and Motorola be bothered? They may be safe for now but a lingering threat may come out once these low key players find a way to invade the larger chunk of the globe and reach the people who are looking for better value for their money.
