More and more leaks involving the highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi 5 come to light. With the launch of the device reportedly closing in, a set of live images featuring the smartphone has emerged, giving users an idea what the flagship will look like.

The smartphone in the photos said to be the China-based company's next offering features slim bezels and a home button, which may or may not have the fingerprint sensor the device is supposed to have.

This scanner will allegedly be the fastest and smallest of its kind, making the technology, which is now used on almost every premium phone, unique and a bigger deal on the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Interestingly, there were earlier rumors that suggested that the flagship will boast an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that will be embedded on the display. However, assuming that the leaked live images are the real deal, it looks like this feature will have to wait.

Before the bunch of live photos surfaced, unofficial renders of the Xiaomi Mi 5 based on the smartphone's design language also graced the web. The flagship in the snaps sported a metal frame with the front display panel coated with 2.5D glass and the back with curved 3D glass, as how it was described. Users will also see a USB Type-C port in action there.

While Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Xiaomi Mi 4 processor will be launched in the near future, the tech company is coy when it comes to the specific details about the handset. The general consensus, though, is that it will sport a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

It will reportedly offer 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB memory space. In the camera department, users can expect a 16-MP rear-facing camera and a 13-MP front-facing shooter. Keeping the lights on will apparently be a 3,600-mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be out by January or February.
