New leaks on the Xiaomi Mi 5 handset, which is set to launch next month, indicate more specs that the Xiaomi flagship will come with.

In a post on Chinese social media website Weibo, a photo of what is claimed to be the Xiaomi Mi 5 was published showing the exterior design of the Xiaomi smartphone. The photo shows the handset to have a home button with an elliptical shape and what seems to be an infrared emitter opposite the headphone jack on the top of the phone.

Although it is unclear what purpose the rumored infrared emitter will serve, there is a likelihood that Xiaomi will be using it as an economically-built near field communication system. Users will also remember the time when infrared was the most famous way to transmit and share information via close communications.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to come out in the upcoming Spring Festival, which starts on Feb. 8, 2016 and lasts a total of 15 days. Xiaomi co-founder and senior vice president Liwan Jiang also stated last Jan. 6 that the Mi 5 was already in production and would sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The Mi 5 is also said to sport a 5.2-inch display with either full HD or QHD resolution, and having two variants in terms of memory with one variant having 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal memory and the other variant having 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory.

The handset is also said to sport a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 13-megapixel back-facing camera. It's also rumoured that the battery capacity will be 3600mAh with quick charging support and the smartphone's software will run on the company's in-built MIUI 7 that is based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be made available in markets a week after the launch.
