As weeks go by and spoilers continue to drop in, the tech world grows closer to the Xiaomi Mi 5, the long-awaited flagship from the China-based tech firm. Almost everything about the smartphone has been leaked but it is only this time that a new morsel of detail hinted that the handset could be the tech company's most expensive mobile offering yet.

A new report claims that the much-awaited device will be priced from CNY 2499 ($385) to 2999 ($462), which are both far higher than what media outlets and users expected. It was assumed that the smartphone will come with a price tag as big as predecessors, which is only CNY 1999.

According to GSM Arena, Xiaomi is aiming to give users the impression that it is a premium and first-class manufacturer, which is why it puffed up the price. It won't feel like a bad deal for those who decide to take a unit home. From what the rumor mills have been chomping out about the specs sheet of the Xiaomi Mi 5, users won't certainly feel cheated by the price increase.

The flagship is rumored to be powered by the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. However, if Xiaomi will be using the new-gen chipset for its latest mobile outing, fans might not see the smartphone in the flesh until April.

Just recently, there came a report about the newly unveiled processor being exclusive for Samsung to use until April. The Xiaomi Mi 5 was originally expected to be released by February but if this report is anything to go by, fans of the Chinese company will have to wait a little longer.

As for the rest of the specs, the flagship is reportedly getting a 5.3-inch Quad HD display, 3 GB to 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner. Xiaomi is mum about the device's makings and release date at the moment.
